Sagunto, the core of the Mediterranean sea

Discover this millenary town.

Sagunto was the most significant city of the Valencian coast in the past, even more than the capital of this region. It was more ancient and had an important theatre and circus; during the Roman Period was the heart of the peninsula.

The city was besieged by Hannibal, who was enraged by its strong resistance. Its heroic nature was also revealed during the War of Independence.

Explore the most relevant Jewish quarter of the kingdom, the theatre which was the first building to be declared National Monument of Spain, the castle and its 1000 m. long walls. It still preserves the footprints left by the many cultures which passed through this old town.
